Welcome to the Tales from the Smoking Wyrm, a DCC fanzine drawing from the history of zines.

The Wyrm is a big fan of gaming zines of all stripes, and we hope to bring you the same high-quality content for a DCC audience! Our issues contain features, usable by players and judges alike!

  • New Patron: Krampus—The Horned Ooser himself as patron for lawfully righteous wizards and elves looking to keep people in line, even if they need the devil to do it! Krampus comes with a full write-up, including a new feature we are adding to all our patrons: a rumors table, to help introduce this patron into game play. Everything you expect to see in a full write-up is present, plus rules for the waxing and waning of Krampus' influence over the seasons, and ways in which characters can become Get of Krampus!
  • Cullpepper's Herbal—This installment of Cullpepper's Herbal focuses on the herbs that are most thought of in the holiday season: Holly, Mistletoe, and Ivy.
  • Krampus missions—Sure, you signed up to help the old Bartl curb the wicked, but now he goes and assigns you actual missions? Included in this article are 7 missions that adherents of Krampus can be assigned in return for their invoking his name! These missions are suitable for inserting into game play pretty much anywhere, and are sure to challenge those who have pledged a deal with Klaubauf himself.

  • Mimir missions—Want to use that new patron, but not sure how to workout that patron quid-pro-quo? The giant of knowledge likes to challenge his followers, and rewards them richly if they succeed. 7 mini-challenges to challenge those who barter for knowledge with Mimir.
  • Expanded Occupations—100 more occupations to make your 0-level peasants even more peasanty. Rules for integrating this table with the DCC RPG rulebook list—giving you 200 occupations to work from! Long live occupational diversity!
  • Alternate DCC Skill system—This brief update to the standard rules delivers the full dice chain to skill checks with little modification to the game itself.
  • Piety in DCC—This short article gives you some additional scope and rules for those who believe. Bringing a little faith to every character can be a very good thing.
